First of all, welcome to the new home of Orange Park High School's Class of 1997. I had attempted to maintain a web page on GeoCities, but the burden of keeping it up to date was way too high for just one person. So I had a brilliant idea... YOU do it!
Below this thread is an example of how your information should be posted here. You can type pretty much whatever you want to in your posts, as long as your posts don't violate the User Terms of Service. (Basically, no profanity or vulgarity.) Please follow these simple steps in order to post here.
1. From your "home page" you should be able to see the bulletin board titled Alumni Registry. Click on it.
2. You should then see the three sub-groups, A-G, H-P, and Q-Z. Based on the first letter of your last name when you were at OPHS, click on the appropriate group. If your last name has changed for any reason (marriage, etc.) you can put your new last name in the body of your post. But for the purpose of finding you, your classmates will want to search for the name they remember you having in high school, right?
3. Once you've selected the proper sub-group, you should see a button that says "new thread" near the top and bottom of the page. Click on it to make your new post.
4. The SUBJECT of your thread should contain your last name, followed by your first name, then whatever else you'd like to add. But your name should be in it. If it is not, I may put it there at a later time.
5. Go ahead and type in whatever information about yourself that you would like. When you're done, please DO NOT "sticky" the thread or make the announcement post on all boards.
This bulletin board is not completely private. You have the option of hiding the email address you registered with. It should only be viewable by yourself and the moderators of the group. But as far as your other personal information goes, please keep in mind that this is still the internet. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHAT KIND OF PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU POST HERE! Try to mask your information in obvious ways.
Example: For your personal email address, instead of saying JohnSmith123@yahoo.com, try JohnSmith123 -at- yahoo.com. It is much less likely to get stolen that way. Try to mask phone numbers, as well. Don't use ( or ). Instead, use spaces or other random symbols, like 904 555 1212 or 904*555*1212. Sure the random person will know what it is, but computer programs designed to harvest email addresses and phone numbers from the internet might get fooled.
Once you've posted your information thread, you can also change your personal profile settings. This is where you choose to have your registration email address hidden if you choose to do so. Click on the "profile" tab at the top of the screen. You can insert your full name, gender, age, and other information.
